SUNYANI: Some irate youth nearly lynched two young men for allegedly stealing some items from a shop at the Sunyani Zongo in the early hours of Monday.According to Ghana News Agency, residents revealed that luck eluded the suspects, who are in their 30s and known in the neighbourhood as 'Lord Bans' and 'Pope Skinny', when they attempted to pack a refrigerator and other items they reportedly stole from the shop.During a visit to the neighbourhood, it was learned that the suspects were subjected to severe beatings. However, some concerned bystanders intervened and rushed to rescue them.The suspects were later handed over to the police. Meanwhile, residents at the Sunyani Zongo expressed concern about the growing trend of petty theft and burglary in the neighbourhood and appealed for police to intensify night patrols in the area.
