Income from the Central Bank of Tunisia's intervention operations on the money market, which account for 54% of the bank's total income, was up 54.4% to TND 1,247.6 million on December 31, 2023, compared with TND 808 million a year earlier, according to the BCT's financial statements for 2023, recently released.This increase is mainly due to the surge in income from outright purchases of securities, which climbed 77.1% to TND 533.7 million from one year-end to the next.Moreover, interest on purchases by tender rose by 60.2% to TND 599.4 million by the end of December 2023.Income from overnight loan facilities rose by TND 5.5 million, from TND 38.9 million to TND 44.4 million. Interest on one-month refinancing operations fell by TND 0.7 million to TND 66.4 million at the end of December 2023, compared with TND 67.1 million a year earlier.Income from deferrals on foreign exchange swaps and interest on one-off operations also fell by TND 21.6 million and TND 0.2 million respectively, to TND 2.4 million a nd TND 0.8 million.Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
