Imam Urges Muslims to Promote Peaceful Coexistence Across Religious Lines

Sekondi: Alhaji Mohammed Alhassan Tendera, the Chief Imam of Bankyease, a suburb of Sekondi, has called on Muslims to foster peace with individuals from different religious backgrounds to promote peaceful coexistence in the country. He emphasized this message during the Eid prayers marking the conclusion of this year's Eid al-Fitr celebration.

According to Ghana News Agency, Alhaji Tendera highlighted the Islamic principle of maintaining peace with people from diverse walks of life and religious beliefs, urging Muslims to persist in living harmoniously with everyone. "Our founder and leader preached peace, therefore there is the need for us to walk in that same direction as instructed by the Holy Quran," he stated. He further emphasized the importance of Christians and Muslims ensuring that peace and unity prevail in their households, communities, and wherever they find themselves to support economic stability.

Alhaji Tendera also advised Muslims to avoid sin to prevent harm to their spiritual lives and their relationship with Allah, noting it could delay the response to their prayers despite fasting and praying. "It is good to have all the fun and enjoy with family and friends but see to it that you do not go contrary to the word of Allah," he remarked. The Imam reiterated the importance of Muslims extending alms to the less privileged in society and living a holy life free from immorality.

Madam Ramatu Issaka, a participant at the prayer, expressed her optimism that Allah would answer all supplications made during the fast and hoped for continued peace in Ghana. Others encouraged Muslims to maintain a holy, pure, and faithful lifestyle, which is the essence of the Ramadan fast. Eid al-Fitr, also known as the 'Festival of Breaking the Fast,' is an Islamic festival celebrated by Muslims worldwide as they reconnect with Allah and show love to fellow Muslims and people from other religious faiths.
