ACCRA: The King of the Igbo community in Ghana, Eze Dr. AMB Chukwudi J. Ihenetu, has extended his congratulations to President-elect John Dramani Mahama and called on citizens to support the incoming administration. In a statement, he emphasized the need for cooperation as Mr. Mahama prepares to assume office following the successful 2024 elections.According to Ghana News Agency, Dr. Ihenetu praised Ghanaians for their role in upholding democratic values during the electoral process. He also acknowledged Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's decision to concede defeat ahead of the results announcement on December 8, which helped mitigate tensions.Dr. Ihenetu underscored the significance of peace and good governance, traits that have characterized Ghana's political landscape since 1992. He expressed hope that President-elect Mahama would be guided by capable advisors to achieve his vision for the nation."We pray that the Lord will give him men and women that will rule with him to make Ghana one of the be st countries in the world," Dr. Ihenetu said. He urged Ghanaians to cooperate with Mr. Mahama to ensure effective governance.He also encouraged other African nations to follow Ghana's example of peaceful and orderly elections. Addressing non-nationals, Dr. Ihenetu advised respect for local laws and positive contributions to the economy, commending Nigerians for abstaining from voting in elections where they were not eligible.Dr. Ihenetu expressed appreciation for the welcoming environment Ghana offers to foreigners and anticipated that this hospitality would continue under the Mahama administration. "Ghana has been known to be one of the countries that always conform to peaceful elections, and today, we have seen that," he added.
