Dr Freda Prempeh, the Member of Parliament for Tano North Constituency in the Ahafo Region, has dismissed speculations that she planned to contest the parliamentary seat as an independent candidate. She, therefore, asked the party to disregard such speculations, describing it as a ploy by her political detractors to make her unpopular in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the constituency. In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Duayaw-Nkwanta in the Tano North Municipality of the Region, Dr Prempeh said, 'It has come to my notice that certain people from certain quarters are speculating that I am going independent.''I serve a party, and I don't serve a human being and that, nobody can push me to do anything against my party. I have worked so hard in my constituency, and I have a reputation to protect too.''The work I have done in my constituency is glaring for everybody to see. The constructions of health and education facilities, durbar grounds, mechanised boreholes, electricity extension and economic support for women, scholarship packages, and several others are all glaring,' she stated.Dr Prempeh said, 'Even if I intend to contest the parliamentary seat independently, I would have done that from day one in February, and I would even win if I do so, because of my hard work, proven record and popularity in the constituency.'However, 'because of the interest of the party we serve and our efforts of breaking the eight, we must work hard to support the Vice President and the Flagbearer of the NPP, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to win the presidential polls'.'So, I want everybody to know and understand that I have no intentions, and I have not said it anywhere that I am contesting the parliamentary seat independently', Dr Prempeh stated. The MP called on supporters of the NPP in the Tano North constituency to concentrate, intensify the electioneering and propagate the good works of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's government. That, Dr Prempeh said remained the surest way the electorat e would be well informed and vote for the NPP to retain political power in the Election 2024.'Alhaji Dr Bawumia and his running mate are depending on us, and we must work hard in order not to let them down. The breaking the eight mantra is a reality, however, we can't achieve that without hard work in the campaign', Dr Prempeh added.Source: Ghana News Agency
