Helicopter Crash Prompts Call for Comprehensive Investigation by COPOSIPI

Tarkwa: The Coalition of Parents of Students in Private Institutions (COPOSIPI), a Non-Governmental Organization, has urged the state to conduct a thorough investigation into the helicopter crash that resulted in the death of eight individuals. The group emphasized the importance of understanding what occurred with the Z-9 Military helicopter, highlighting the significance of the incident for Ghanaians.



According to Ghana News Agency, a statement issued by COPOSIPI’s Executive Secretary, Mr. Simon Gbene, and shared with the agency, underscored the necessity for transparency and truthfulness in uncovering the details of the crash. The statement called for the prevention of any cover-up attempts and insisted that the truth should be made public.



COPOSIPI extended its condolences to President John Dramani Mahama, the citizens of Ghana, and the families of the state officials and security personnel who lost their lives in service. The statement expressed particular sorrow for Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, whose potential for a presidential candidacy was noted. The statement remarked on the tragedy of his untimely death while acknowledging a higher purpose.



The crash took place on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, near Adansi Brofuyedru in the Adansi Akrofuom District in the Ashanti Region. In response to the incident, President John Dramani Mahama announced on Thursday night the establishment of an Investigative Inquiry Board to examine the circumstances surrounding the helicopter crash.
