Helicopter Crash: Media Urged to Register for Accreditation Ahead of State Funeral

Accra: The Government has extended invitations to media houses and their representatives to register to cover the State Funeral for the nation's gallant eight, who fell in the line of duty. A statement issued by Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister of State in-charge of Government Communications, said the solemn event would be conducted according to specific arrangements.

According to Ghana News Agency, to ensure a well-organised event, journalists and all media houses wishing to cover the State Funeral should note that there would be limited accreditation for photographers and camera operators to access the special media zone within the inner perimeter. This is designed to ensure optimal space and decorum during the ceremony. Reporters are welcome to join the mourners and well-wishers or access the media stands, which do not require any form of accreditation.

Applications for accreditation must be submitted by media houses for photographers and camera operators only via email to [email protected] by midday (noon GMT) on Wednesday, 13 August, 2025. To facilitate comprehensive live coverage, Presidency Communications will provide a dedicated clean feed for all local and international TV stations and other media houses wishing to air the event live on their channels. This feed will be available on site and their dedicated Outdoor Broadcast channel on the DTH decoder, serving as the primary source for the live broadcast.

For studio discussions and live broadcasts, radio and TV stations, along with other media outlets planning these activities, will be assigned a designated area. Access points will be available to connect for the clean video feed and audio, with this area not requiring accreditation. The statement expressed appreciation for the media's understanding and cooperation in ensuring a dignified and respectful State Funeral for the departed compatriots.
