Helicopter Crash Claims Lives of Eight Ghanaian Officials

Accra: The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) has expressed its deepest condolences to the families, loved ones, and colleagues of the eight distinguished government officials and military officers who lost their lives in a helicopter crash.

According to Ghana News Agency, a statement from Mr. George Smith-Graham, the Acting Chief Executive of FWSC, highlighted the profound impact of the devastating incident, which occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, casting a shadow over the nation.

Mr. Smith-Graham described the deceased as devoted public servants and patriots who gave their all in service to the Republic of Ghana. He emphasized that their untimely deaths represent a significant loss to the country's governance and national security framework. The FWSC mourns alongside the government and people of Ghana, especially President John Dramani Mahama, the Ghana Armed Forces, and all affected institutions, their spouses, and families.

The Commission acknowledged the sacrifice of these officers and the valuable roles they played in shaping the future of the nation. Their memory, Mr. Smith-Graham stated, will forever be etched in the hearts of the Ghanaian people. He extended wishes for peace for the departed souls and strength, comfort, and healing for their families and all who are grieving this painful loss.

The victims were identified as Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister of Defence; Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister of Environment, Science and Technology; Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna, acting Deputy National Security Coordinator and former Minister of Food and Agriculture; Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress; Mr. Samuel Aboagye, a former Parliamentary candidate; Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala; Flying Officer Amaning Twum Ampadu; and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
