Accra: The two topmost Ghanaian clubs, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, have expressed their readiness to resume the 2024-25 Ghana Premier League after a brief hiatus. Following the death of a football fan in Nsoatre, stakeholders have engaged in a series of discussions to improve security at various match centres.According to Ghana News Agency, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko announced in a joint press statement that they have achieved an agreement with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on measures to ensure safety at league centres. Both clubs expressed strong approval for the GFA's 'Enhanced Matchday Safety and Security Protocols' and lauded the robust measures, particularly the significant increase in security personnel.The clubs stated that they would persistently ensure strict compliance with these protocols and demand constant review to maintain high safety standards. They highlighted that the enhanced security measures would ensure crowd control, faster emergency response times, and comprehensi ve safety checks for all attendees at the various match venues. The expanded security presence is seen as a crucial step for protecting players, officials, and fans.Furthermore, both clubs revealed the advanced discussions they held with the GFA about the Autonomous League proposals. The meeting marked a pivotal step forward in the long-anticipated transition to an 'Autonomous Premier League'. Both clubs praised the GFA for its leadership in advancing this initiative, noting significant progress has already been made, including the official registration of the Autonomous Premier League as a corporate entity and the establishment of operational bank accounts by the Implementation Committee.
