Tunis: The first leg of the Elite handball Championship super play-off final between Club Africain and Esperance de Tunis at the Rades Sports hall on Wednesday was abandoned with just seconds to go, with Esperance leading 34-25.The derby, attended by Club Africain's fans, was no exception and was a fiercely contested affair between the capital's two great rivals, who finished the first half level on points: 16-15 in favour of Esperance.In the second half, the Bab Souika's side began to extend their lead after 15 minutes (25-20, then 28-22) and increased their advantage to 9 points with 50 seconds left in the game.The end of the game saw a few outbursts from fans throwing projectiles on the ground, forcing the referee to abandon the match with the score 34-25 for Esperance de Tunis.The return leg of the final is scheduled for Sunday at 6pm at the same venue, with Esperance fans' attendance.EM Mahdia defeated Etoile du Sahel 41-36 in the third-place play-off, the first leg of which was played in Souss e.The return leg is scheduled for Sunday in Mahdia.Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
