Accra: Groupe Ndoum (GN), a Ghanaian-American multinational family holding business, commemorated the 2025 World Environment Day by donating a plastic waste receptacle and sanitary equipment to the PRESEC Staff Cluster of Schools in Madina. The contribution included wheelbarrows, cutlasses, rakes, brooms, and sanitation gloves, aimed at bolstering the school's environmental sanitation efforts.According to Ghana News Agency, the initiative is part of Groupe Ndoum's green revolution, which seeks to enhance environmental sanitation and raise awareness about plastic recycling among students. In addition to the donation, GN Ghana organized a clean-up exercise and an environmental awareness campaign with the pupils.Dr. Nana Kweku Nduom, President of Groupe Nduom Ghana, led the team and engaged students on the importance of recycling plastics and maintaining cleanliness in their surroundings. He encouraged them to become cleanliness ambassadors within their communities and rewarded those who answered questions s atisfactorily with monetary gifts.Mr. Moses Aryee, Principal Programme Officer at the Environmental Protection Authority, participated in the campaign and emphasized the need for collective efforts from individuals, communities, and organizations to combat the plastic waste issue. He highlighted the environmental threats posed by single-use plastics.Madam Jane Naki Tetteh-Aonwie, President of Women in Engineering at the Ghana Institution of Engineering, praised Groupe Ndoum for their initiative and advocated for ongoing collaborative efforts to tackle plastic waste. Themed 'Beat Plastic Pollution,' the 2025 World Environment Day aims to increase global awareness of the harmful effects of plastic waste on ecosystems, wildlife, and human health.The event seeks to rally communities worldwide to adopt and support impactful solutions for addressing plastic pollution, emphasizing the growing scientific evidence of its effects on the planet. The programme encourages actions to refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle, a nd rethink the use of plastics.
