GPHA Director General Inspects Tema Port Infrastructure

Tema: As part of efforts to improve efficiency and safety within the Tema Port, Brigadier General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono, the Director-General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), has inspected ongoing infrastructure projects at the port. The ongoing works are part of GPHA's broader efforts to modernize port infrastructure, improve safety, and facilitate trade through the country's largest seaport.

According to Ghana News Agency, Engineer Kobla Ofori, the General Manager of Engineering, and Dr. Kingsley Antwi Boasiako, the General Manager of Marketing and Corporate Affairs, accompanied the Director-General. The Director-General used the tour of the project sites to assess the rehabilitation of the Tema Harbour's main road, which had deteriorated over time and posed significant challenges to drivers, especially truck drivers transporting cargo from the port.

The upgrade is expected to ease movement and reduce delays in haulage operations. The Director-General also inspected a new link road under construction between Terminal Two and the Meridian Port Services (MPS) Terminal 3, which, when completed, is expected to significantly reduce the time it takes to transport containers between the two terminals, enhancing overall port operations.

He also inspected the ongoing construction of breakwaters designed to provide better protection for vessels and port infrastructure, especially during rough weather conditions. Brigadier General Tanye-Kulono expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work being executed, commending the contractors for their commitment while urging them to maintain the momentum to ensure timely completion of the projects.

He noted: "These projects are critical to the strategic vision of GPHA to maintain Tema Port's competitiveness and operational efficiency. I am pleased with what I have seen and encourage all contractors to stay focused."
