Government Ends Military Protection for Civilians and Officials

Accra: Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah has announced the withdrawal of military protection for civilians and public officials.

According to Ghana News Agency, the initiative is part of the government's reset agenda aimed at restoring discipline and accountability, and it seeks to address the misuse of military personnel for personal purposes.

Dr. Boamah emphasized on his Facebook page that the military protection withdrawal applies to civilians, including public officials, former ministers, and businesspeople who are not entitled to such security measures. The minister warned that military personnel found performing unauthorized guard duties would face serious consequences.

The Defence Minister called upon the public to support the initiative, advocating for a disciplined and equitable use of state security resources through collective responsibility. He urged citizens to collaborate in promoting a more disciplined and responsible utilization of military resources.
