Bogoso: The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has commissioned a new Fire Station at Bogoso in the Western Region to enhance the safety and well-being of the people. The Bogoso Fire Station will serve as a destination for fire safety education, fire prevention, and fire response services and enable personnel to respond to emergencies faster, more effectively, and efficiently.According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Henry Quartey, the Minister for the Interior, in a speech delivered on his behalf by the Deputy Minister, emphasized the importance of a fire station in a rapidly developing town like Bogoso, particularly due to its economic reliance on gold mining and the influx of businesses supporting the local economy. He highlighted that the facility will not only protect lives and property but also safeguard investments driving the community's growth.Mr. Quartey noted that fire outbreaks pose a significant threat to development, requiring a collective effort from all stakeholders for effective prevention. He urged the residents of Bogoso to care for the station and support the fire officers who work diligently to ensure their safety. He cautioned against acts of violence towards personnel or misuse of the facility, which could undermine its intended purpose.Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Julius A. Kuunuor remarked that the Bogoso Fire Station is the first phase of a significant two-phase project. He stressed the importance of collaboration among Traditional Leaders, Institutions, and Communities in achieving common goals. The CFO described the new station as a solution to protect lives, property, and livelihoods from destructive fire outbreaks.CFO Kuunuor assured stakeholders that the commitment and hard work of GNFS personnel would make the station a beacon of excellence, providing faster and more professional services to protect the community and its surrounding areas. He emphasized that fire prevention is a shared responsibility and encouraged the public to remain vigilant and collaborate with the GNFS.He expr essed optimism regarding the completion of the project's second phase, which will include a training center and residential apartments for fire personnel. CFO Kuunuor also acknowledged the Local Management Committee of the Minerals Development Fund, traditional leaders, and the people of Bogoso for their unwavering support and financial investments, which underscore the community's commitment to safety and well-being.
