Kadjebi: Ms. Janet Yaa Obido, an Assistant Civic Education Officer with the Kadjebi District Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), has urged citizens to actively engage in Ghana's development. She underscored the notion that development is a shared responsibility.
According to Ghana News Agency, Ms. Obido emphasized that every action, regardless of its scale, contributes to national development. She asserted that by collectively facing challenges with commitment and action, a nation rooted in peace and offering hope and better opportunities for all Ghanaians can be built. Her remarks were made during an address to seamstress and hairdressing apprentices in Kadjebi, located in the Oti Region.
The engagement was part of the NCCE's activities celebrating the 2025 Constitution Week, a key program of the Commission. Ms. Obido highlighted that Ghana's progress relies not solely on large policies or foreign investments but on citizens recognizing themselves as nation-builders. This vision can be realized when citizens adhere to laws, protect public property, safeguard the environment, uphold justice, and promote peaceful coexistence.
She further noted that these values, when adopted by individuals and communities, create the moral and social foundation necessary for Ghana's long-term success. Ms. Obido encouraged the apprentices to protect the environment by avoiding littering, supporting reforestation, and conserving water and energy.
Madam Alberta Humado, Proprietress of Ahafia Beauty Parlor in Kadjebi, praised the NCCE Officer for her educational insights and promised to share the message with other mistresses.
The Constitution Week Celebration, initiated in 2001, commemorates Ghana's return to constitutional democratic rule. Notably, April 28, 1992, marks the day when the Ghanaian electorate voted in favor of a referendum adopting the draft Fourth Republican Constitution, which took effect on January 7, 1993. This year's theme is 'Ghana's Future: Our Collective Responsibility'.
