Ghana Wins Bronze at 2025 ITF WTC Africa Qualifiers

Rabat: The Ghana Wheelchair Tennis (GWT) Men's team secured a bronze medal at the recently concluded 2025 International Tennis Federation (ITF) World Tennis Clubs (WTC) Africa qualifiers. The team triumphed over Kenya with a score of 3:0, securing the third position in the tournament, while Morocco and Egypt clinched the first and second places, respectively.

According to Ghana News Agency, the victorious team comprised players Bernard Yawson and Daniel Laryea, under the leadership of official Kwabena Afriyie-Siaw. The Ghana Ambassador to Morocco, Mrs. Charity Gbedawo, attended the closing ceremony and extended her congratulations to the team for their commendable performance and for bringing pride to Ghana.

The GWT men's team expressed their gratitude to the GTF wheelchair tennis committee for their support, which included fundraising efforts by generous individuals from the Volta Region and Donewell Insurance. Dr. Henry Larbi, National Coordinator of GWT, acknowledged the contributions of Bridget Nartey, Stacy Konadu Mensah, and Coach Philip Plange, who assisted in the team's two-week residential training at Sonrise SHS Tennis Court in Ho. He also thanked the ITF for the travel grant provided to the GTF and expressed appreciation to the GTF Board for their continuous support.
