Accra: Accra will host a three-day international public relations conference and the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) Golden World Awards Gala from October 1 to 3, 2025.
According to Ghana News Agency, the event is organised by the Institute of Public Relations (IPR), Ghana, in collaboration with the African Public Relations Association (APRA) and IPRA, and will be held at the Accra International Conference Centre. The conference aims to examine the evolving role of strategic communication in response to global shifts, focusing on communicating artificial intelligence (AI) for Africa's development and addressing illegal mining (galamsey) through effective communication.
Participants will benefit from expert discussions, sector-specific case studies, and interactive exhibitions. Optional guided heritage tours are also planned to provide a blend of professional engagement and cultural experiences. President John Dramani Mahama, a Fellow of both IPR Ghana and APRA, will serve as Special Guest of Honour and deliver the keynote address.
Expected national speakers include the Minister for Communications, Digital Technologies and Innovation, Mr. Sam Nartey George, Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Minister of Government Communications, and Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Minister for Lands and Natural Resources. International speakers will feature Mr. Jan Eissfeldt, Director and Global Head of Trust and Safety at the Wikimedia Foundation, and Mr. Emmanuel Lubanzadio, Africa Lead at OpenAI, among other high-profile experts from the communications, technology, and policy sectors.
Remarks will also be delivered by Ms. Esther A. N. Cobbah, President of IPR Ghana and CEO of Stratcomm Africa, Mr. Arik Karani, President of APRA, and Ms. Nata‚¬Å¡¬¦¡a Pavlovic Bujas, President of IPRA. The conference will culminate in the IPRA Golden World Awards for Excellence Gala Dinner at the M¶venpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra on October 3.
This will be the first time Ghana hosts the prestigious awards, which celebrate outstanding public relations campaigns globally and mark the 70th anniversary of IPRA. The event is open to communication professionals, AI experts, policymakers, academics, development actors, media practitioners, and students interested in exploring the intersection of communication, technology, and innovation.
