Accra: Dr. Edward Ackah-Nyamike, President of the Ghana Hotels Association (GHA), has hinted at a possible return of the Association to the Ghana Tourism Federation (GHATOF). He stated that while the GHA's exit from GHATOF had been necessitated by certain circumstances, future developments could pave the way for renewed collaboration.
According to Ghana News Agency, Dr. Ackah-Nyamike expressed optimism about the potential for a reunion, noting that the separation might not be permanent. He made these remarks during the GHATOF Executive Council Elections 2025 in Accra, emphasizing the GHA's dedication to collaborating with other trade bodies to promote Ghana as a top tourism destination. He highlighted the importance of unity among trade associations and expressed a commitment to providing services that align with the needs of guests and tourists.
Dr. Ackah-Nyamike also urged the new GHATOF leadership to address critical issues in the tourism sector, including the revival of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Forum. He described the forum as an essential platform for engagement between government and industry players, advocating for its regular organization to enhance dialogue, collaboration, and policy formulation.
The GHA President emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in managing the Tourism Development Fund, stressing that the fund should be administered openly and responsibly for the benefit of all industry players. On the topic of training and service delivery, he called for a coordinated and structured training system to enhance professionalism and customer service throughout the tourism and hospitality value chain. He pointed out that inadequate training posed a challenge to service quality and noted that investing in human capital was crucial for maintaining international competitiveness.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Ackah-Nyamike encouraged industry stakeholders to maintain unity despite differences in ideas or ideology, stressing that collaboration was vital for national development.
