Ghana Hosts Inaugural Executive Forum on Strategic Compliance

Accra: Ms Tiffany A. Archer, Esq., Founder and President of Eunomia Risk Advisory Incorporated, emphasized that Africa should not wait to be included in global governance discussions but should actively participate as co-architects of ethical and relevant governance systems. She made these remarks at the inaugural Executive Forum on Strategic Compliance in West Africa, held in Accra.

According to Ghana News Agency, the forum gathered leaders from various sectors, including government, diplomacy, academia, legal practice, and corporate governance, to discuss the future of governance, risk management, and compliance in Africa and beyond. The event was organized by Eunomia Risk Advisory and its partners, with support from multiple institutions like the Institute of Directors, Ghana Bar Association, African Corporate Governance Network, and others.

Ms Archer noted that Africa is not merely waiting for an invitation to global governance discussions but is actively creating its own platform with integrity and intention. She highlighted the need for platforms that showcase African leadership rather than relying on external solutions.

Professor Douglas Boateng, Chairman of PanAvest International, called for a rethinking of Africa's governance structures, advocating for Afrocentric governance models rooted in African realities. He announced the approval of his governance book for secondary schools in Ghana, aiming to foster governance literacy from a young age.

Professor Marcia Narine Weldon from the University of Miami School of Law pointed out the opportunity for African leaders to develop governance models that are ethical and culturally intelligent. She emphasized the necessity for African leadership to set global compliance standards, supported by law and technology.

Dr. William G.M. Brandful, a retired diplomat, discussed the gap between Africa's development plans and citizen engagement. He stressed the importance of involving ordinary Africans in governance initiatives to ensure meaningful impact, beyond statistical achievements.
