Ghana Government to Collaborate with Stakeholders for Digital Transformation

Accra: Mr. Julius Debrah, the Chief of Staff, announced the government's commitment to partnering with both public and private institutions to establish Ghana as a digitally sovereign, economically empowered, and globally competitive nation. This initiative aims to position Ghana at the forefront of Africa's technological advancements.

According to Ghana News Agency, the government plans to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to deliver significant value by co-investing in research and development. The focus is on positioning Ghana as a leading digital technology hub in Africa. Within seven months of taking office, the Mahama-led administration launched the One Million Coders programme to equip Ghanaian youth with essential skills in Coding, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Data Analytics.

Mr. Debrah shared these insights during the inaugural Mobex Africa Partnership Day in Accra, themed 'Powering Innovations Through Partnerships'. The event celebrated collaboration and strategic alliances, aiming to shape Africa's future. Attendees included government representatives, business leaders, start-ups, development partners, academia, and tech firms, who discussed leveraging digital technology for national development.

He emphasized the alignment of this initiative with President Mahama's transformative Reset Agenda, which envisions a technology-driven Ghana. The agenda focuses on strategic partnerships to fuel inclusive growth and strengthen institutions, ultimately fostering a digital future owned by Ghanaians.

Mr. Debrah highlighted the previous administration's efforts to create a technology-driven Ghana through e-governance initiatives, the operationalization of the National Data Centre, and enhanced rural connectivity via public-private partnerships. As part of the digital literacy agenda, the government is enhancing the understanding of emerging technologies among ministers at all leadership levels. A recent AI workshop conducted at Adukrom on July 25 exemplifies these efforts.

Mr. George Spencer Quaye, CEO of Mobex Africa, emphasized the necessity of stakeholder partnerships to achieve Africa's technological renaissance. He noted that the Mobex Africa Tech Innovation Conference and Awards have been pivotal in driving digital transformation through innovation and collaboration. The platform serves as a convening force for visionaries, policymakers, and innovators to harness Africa's potential through technology. Mr. Quaye stressed the importance of partnerships in amplifying and sustaining efforts by governments and private enterprises in transforming the continent.
