Regensburg: 'Germany Meets Qingdao: How Much Do You Know About Traditional Chinese Festivals' event held in Regensburg, Germany, on November 15, aimed to enhance the understanding of traditional Chinese culture among local residents and to strengthen ties with Qingdao, its sister city. Sponsored by the Information Office of Qingdao Municipal People's Government and co-organized by the Regensburg German-Chinese Friendship and Cultural Exchange Association, the event opened avenues for cultural exchange and knowledge sharing.According to Ghana News Agency, participants were treated to informative videos that showcased traditional Chinese festivals, including the Spring Festival, Dragon Boat Festival, and Mid-Autumn Festival. These presentations highlighted various customs, celebratory practices, and traditional foods linked to these festivals, such as writing Spring Festival couplets, posting blessing characters, gifting red envelopes, racing dragon boats, and enjoying mooncakes.To make the experience more engaging, a prize quiz was conducted, allowing attendees to answer questions related to the content they had watched. Winners were awarded gifts from Qingdao, such as Spring Festival couplets, Qingdao-themed postcards, sticky notes, and scenic stamps, providing a tangible connection to the culture of their sister city.In addition to these activities, the Regensburg German-Chinese Friendship and Cultural Exchange Association shared a video depicting how its members celebrate traditional Chinese festivals. The video included scenes of members making traditional dishes like meat dumplings and glutinous rice dumplings together, highlighting the hands-on cultural experiences shared by the association.The event also featured an exhibition of breathtaking photographs capturing the scenic beauty of Qingdao. This visual display offered participants a deeper appreciation of the coastal city's picturesque landscapes, further enhancing the cultural connection between the two cities.Through these initiatives, the ev ent successfully fostered cultural exchange and friendship between Regensburg and Qingdao, reinforcing the bond between the two sister cities.
