Tunis: The geopark project in Kef was launched on Saturday as part of the activities of the 34th session of the "Mayou" Festival (May 18-19), organised by the "Association de sauvegarde et de développement de la Médina du Kef."The announcement related to the establishment of the Museum of Man and Earth, the first nucleus of the geopark project in Kef, classified as an ecological heritage site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).Geology expert Mustapha Belhaj Ali pointed out that the governorate of Kef has one of the richest human and natural heritages in the world, making it ideal for hosting a world-class geopark capable of boosting the region's economic development.Some 35 geological sites will be selected from among 70 spread across all the delegations with a view to establishing the geopark, he pointed out, adding that the management of each site requires special attention and the involvement of citizens in the upkeep aspect.Source: Agence Tunis Afriqu e Presse
