Accra: Mr. James Agalga, the Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), has emphasized the importance of cooperation and unity in achieving the collective mandate of the company. He expressed the Board's commitment to collaborating closely with management to advance the President's vision of establishing Ghana as the aviation hub of the West African sub-region.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Agalga shared these insights during a ceremony at Kotoka International Airport, where the newly inaugurated Board of Directors was introduced to the staff. Prior to this event, the Board had engaged in discussions with Heads of Department and Union Executives, reinforcing their intention to work collectively towards shared goals.
Mr. Agalga expressed his gratitude towards the management and staff for their warm welcome and praised their dedication and hard work, particularly in overcoming challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Their efforts have significantly contributed to the company's impressive financial performance.
Mrs. Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, the Managing Director of GACL, highlighted the company's recent achievements, such as the dual repurposing of Terminal 2 for both international and domestic operations and the ongoing resurfacing of the 30-year-old runway. She attributed these successes to the collective efforts and unity of the management team and staff, and assured the Board of her commitment to working together to realize the President's vision.
The Board comprises notable members including Mr. Attah Issah, MP for Sagnarigu constituency, Mr. William Ntebe Ayo, MP for Tatale-Sanguli constituency, Mr. Mark William Attipoe, representing the Ministry of Transport, and Mr. Kwabena Amponsah Dapaah, a Fellow of the Ghana Institution of Surveyors. Additional members include Ms. Diana Amakie Ashong, a business executive, Mrs. Afriyie Opare, the Managing Director of GACL, Air Commodore Elvis King Arneson, Base Commander at the Airforce Base in Accra, representing the Ghana Airforce, and Mr. Joseph Enimil-Armah.
