Mr Abu Kasangbata, a former Deputy Upper West Regional Minister has commended the organized labour groups for their decision to embark on nationwide demonstrations.'Their voices resonate with the struggles of every Ghanaian facing the harsh realities of our economic situation. It is imperative that we unite and advocate our collective welfare. The government's inaction regarding the rampant illegal mining, or 'galamsey,'poses a severe threat to our water resources and, by extension, the health and livelihoods of our people'.In a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, Mr Kasangbata said recent calls for a state of emergency to combat this menace had largely gone unheeded by those in power, who seem more concerned with political interests than the well-being of Ghanaians. He called on President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Bawumia, to implement robust policies to address the crisis.'This disregard for public opinion undermines the nation's multi-party democracy and places our futu re in jeopardy'.Mr Kasangbata urged all civil society organizations, faith-based groups, and religious leaders to unite in defense of the nation and the next generation.'Let us advocate transparency, accountability, and the welfare of every Ghanaian. Together, Ghanaians can work towards a brighter future for all.Source: Ghana News Agency
