Footgolf to Herald Eight Captain One Golf Society’s Major Championship.

Obuasi: Organisers of the annual Captain One Golf Society major championship have announced that the eighth edition of the championship will include a footgolf competition as a curtain-raiser for the event. Footgolf is a precision sport that combines elements of soccer and golf, with rules that closely align with those of golf.According to Ghana News Agency, President and founder of Captain One Golf Society, Mr. Pius Ayeh Appiah, explained that the inclusion of footgolf aims to provide participants with a relaxed atmosphere before the main competition. The footgolf event is scheduled to take place at the Obuasi Golf Club on Friday, January 17, 2025, and will be open to both golfers and non-golfers who wish to participate.Mr. Appiah, who also serves as the chairperson of the organising committee, stated that the eighth major championship will be played on two courses. He emphasized that the event is gaining momentum and expressed a desire for it to be more than just a golf event. Consequently, the first da y of the competition, January 18, 2025, will be held at the Obuasi Golf Club, while the second day, January 19, 2025, will take place at the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi.The President also mentioned that the overall winner of the championship stands to win GH12,000 in cash or vouchers, depending on whether they are a professional or amateur golfer. Competition Secretary Mr. Solomon Harbey added that the registration fee for the eighth major is set at GH500 for male non-members and GH450 for female non-members of the society. Members of the society are required to register for GH450 for male golfers and GH400 for female golfers, while junior golfers can participate for free.The registration fee covers the two-day competition. Captain One Golf Society comprises both golfers and non-golfers, with the primary objective of promoting the game of golf at the grassroots level through the Captain One Kids Project. The eighth major championship is sponsored by various organizations, including the Obuasi Golf Club, Roy al Golf Club, Mosak Photography, RK Cliste, Flo-Polo Designs, Servaco PPS, Run on Time Engineering, 3K Logistics and Construction, Smart Procurement and Logistics, and Industrial Procurement Services.
