Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate to the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has paid a courtesy call on Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II, the Oguaamanhen, in celebration of the Oguaa Fetu Afahye.The professor visited the Emintsimadze Palace, the seat of the Oguaamanhen, in the company of some stalwarts of the party, including Prof Kofi Asiedu, the Central Regional Chairman; Mr Kweku George Ricketts-Hagan, Member of Parliament (MP) for Cape Coast South, and Dr Kwamena Mintah Nyarku, Cape Coast North MP as well as some cheerful supporters.Prof Opoku-Agyemang and her entourage were warmly received by the Oguaamanhen, who sat in state with his council basking in full glory.As part of the visit, Mr Ricketts-Hagan and Dr Nyarku donated some assorted items worth thousands of Cedis to support the festival.The items included assorted alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, 30 bags of rice, boxes of cooking oil and a ram.The chiefs in return poured libation to offer prayers to in voke the blessings of the gods on them.This year's Afahye marks the 60th anniversary of the famed festival and coincides with 25th anniversary of Osabarimba as the Oguaamanhen.The event, which promises to be a historic one, will be graced by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene as the special guest of honour, as well as many other dignitaries.Source: Ghana News Agency
