Tunis: The European Union Delegation in Tunisia has just launched the fifth edition of the "Lina Ben Mhenni Prize for Freedom of Expression." The deadline for submitting applications is October 31, 2024.In a statement, the European Delegation emphasised that this award, established in 2020, aims to improve the quality of print journalism in Tunisia. It also serves as a tribute to Lina Ben Mhenni, an "icon of the Tunisian Revolution," and her advocacy for the shared values between Tunisia and the European Union.Funded by the EU, the "Lina Ben Mhenni Prize for Freedom of Expression" is open to Tunisian journalists, bloggers, and whistleblowers. Applicants should submit an investigative piece (in Arabic, French, or English,) on a topic related to the shared values between the European Union and Tunisia. This encompasses the defence of democratic principles, freedom, solidarity, and particularly freedom of expression and economic and social human rights.The submitted article must have been published in prin t media or online (news site, blog) between January 1, 2023, and October 15, 2024.
