Essikado-Ketan Constituency Voters Committed to Upholding Democratic Values.

Essikado-Ketan: A cross section of voters within the Essikado-Ketan Constituency in the Western Region are eager to exercise their franchise in the Saturday polls. The voters, whom the Ghana News Agency engaged, expressed their disappointment that the special voting exercise could not be undertaken as communicated earlier. However, they pledged their unwavering commitment to entrenching the principles of democracy.According to Ghana News Agency, the special voting exercise allotted to persons with special duties in the general election was unable to proceed in the constituency and the Western Region on Monday, December 2. This was due to information that some of the ballot papers had been found in 'wrong' hands in the Eastern Region. It was noted that both the Eastern and Western Regions had the same company as printers.Despite the setback, many voters have expressed their readiness to cast their ballots either on Thursday, as stated by the Electoral Commission, or in the December 7 elections. Approximate ly 131,478 voters, constituting 0.007 percent of the total registered electorate of 18,741,159, are anticipated to take part in this Special Voting. In the region, a total of 5,085 voters are expected to participate in the special voting exercise.Madam Comfort Asebe, a party agent, told the GNA that the decision was in the best interest of democracy and encouraged all affected to keep faith in the process. Mr. Benjamin Bray, a journalist with Kantanka TV, expressed hope that the postponement would allow the Electoral Commission to address issues such as accreditation. Some security personnel, who chose to remain anonymous, urged Ghanaians to continue trusting the EC to make decisions that would prevent any acts of suspicion leading to violence.
