Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, National Chairman, National Democratic Congress (NDC), on Monday afternoon filed the Party's presidential nomination forms on behalf of its flagbearer, Former President John Dramani Mahama.The Party's Chairman submitted the nomination forms at the EC head office about 1400 hours in the company of Mr Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, General Secretary, NDC, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Director of Elections, NDC, among other stalwarts of the PartyMrs Jean Mensa, Chairperson, EC, received the NDC's nomination forms on behalf of the Commission.Mr Nketia said the NDC had 'serious concerns' over the credibility of the voters' register and urged the EC to ensure that the electoral processes were free and fair.He said the recent illegal transfer of voters undermined the credibility of the voters' register, and said the NDC 'will not sleep on our rights'.Mr Nketia reiterated the NDC's call for an independent forensic audit of the Information Technology systems of the EC to establish the credibility o f the register and clear doubts.He served notice that the NDC would embark on nationwide demonstration against the EC to demand for independent forensic audit of the IT systems of the Commission and make a case for free, fair, and credible elections.'We will descend on the EC offices and we in Accra will descend on the EC head office and present further petition as to why we think that they should conduct themselves in a manner that will guarantee peaceful, free, and fair elections,' Mr Nketia said.The EC is receiving nomination forms from presidential aspirants from today, Monday, September 9 to Friday, September 13, 2024.Mrs Mensa said the EC had constituted two teams to scrutinise and review the documents of the presidential aspirants to ensure that they satisfied the key requirements.Mrs Mensa assured the NDC that the teams would 'get to work immediately' and provide feedback to the flag bearer in the 'shortest possible time'.Source: Ghana News Agency
