Accra: President of the Community Court of Justice, ECOWAS, Justice Ricardo Cl¡udio Monteiro Gon§alves, officially commenced the final phase of the General Group Training on the new Electronic Case Management System (ECMS) at Zuma Resorts, Nigeria. This session marks a critical step towards preparing for the system's official launch in April 2025.
According to Ghana News Agency, this comprehensive session involves Judges, Head Case Managers, Case Managers, and other key staff. It is designed to equip stakeholders with the necessary knowledge and to validate all system modifications, ensuring that the ECMS workflow aligns with the Court's relevant texts and regulations. Justice Gon§alves emphasized the session's significance, following a successful Quality Assurance Workshop. This workshop reviewed the ECMS workflow, incorporated feedback from previous training sessions held in Lom©, Accra, and Praia, proposed updates, and ensured compliance with the Court's legal framework, including various Practice Directions.
The three-day training will engage participants in practical sessions, including system walkthroughs, workflow simulations, and role-specific training, covering all aspects of electronic case management. From e-filing a case to delivering a final decision, participants will explore every element of the new system.
Justice Gon§alves highlighted the importance of several preparatory steps before the system's Go-Live, such as deploying technical tools, finalizing user manuals, establishing a Help Desk, and implementing robust security measures. He stressed the importance of the Court's IT Unit taking full ownership of the transition to ensure smooth implementation and long-term sustainability, especially given increasing resource constraints.
He urged active participation from all involved to ensure the successful adoption of the new system. This training session represents a pivotal moment in the ECOWAS Court of Justice's ongoing modernization efforts, reinforcing its commitment to enhance justice across the region.
