EC Engages Media Associations on Accreditation Quotas to Collation Centres.

Accra: The Electoral Commission (EC) is actively engaging with the leadership of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) regarding media accreditation to Collation Centres. This move comes in response to concerns raised by media partners about the quotas assigned to media houses for access to these centres.According to Ghana News Agency, a statement issued by Mr. Samuel Tettey, Deputy Chairman, Operations, EC, indicated that the Commission has been receiving numerous calls from media partners since the memo directing its staff at the District and Regional levels to select media houses for accreditation was made public. The EC is committed to addressing these concerns by engaging with the leadership of GJA and GIBA to devise a workable and acceptable solution.The statement highlighted the Commission's dedication to maintaining transparency in its operations by opening all its Constituency, Regional, and National Collation Centres to the media. Howev er, it also emphasized the importance of ensuring an orderly and peaceful process, which necessitates limiting the number of individuals who can access the Collation Centres at any given time.The EC expressed confidence that its ongoing discussions with GJA and GIBA leadership would result in outcomes satisfactory to all parties involved, ensuring a transparent and orderly election process.
