EC Announces Re-run in 19 Polling Stations in Ablekuma North

Ablekuma north: The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced a re-run of the 2024 Parliamentary election in 19 of the 37 polling stations in the Ablekuma North Constituency, scheduled for Friday, July 11, 2025. The decision comes in the wake of a prolonged dispute between the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) concerning the validity of results from certain polling stations during the collation process after the December 2024 election.

According to Ghana News Agency, the dispute revolves around the pink sheets from these polling stations. A press release signed by Mr. Samuel Tettey, Deputy Chairman in charge of Operations, clarified that while the results from 18 scanned polling stations were verified by presiding officers and approved by agents from both parties, the remaining 19 results were not verified by presiding officers, although they were endorsed by party agents.

The EC has decided that the re-run will be limited to the 19 polling stations in question. Additionally, the Commission has requested the Ghana Police Service to provide adequate security to ensure a peaceful electoral process during the re-run.
