Dumsor: Minority Slams President Mahama Over Power Crisis Claims

Accra: The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Minority Caucus in Parliament, Monday rejected President John Dramani Mahama's claims that his administration resolved Ghana's power crisis, popularly known as 'dumsor,' in 2016.According to Ghana News Agency, former Minister of Finance, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam challenged President Mahama to release a load-shedding timetable, as intermittent power outages continued to disrupt daily life. Dr Amin Adam asserted that President Mahama's record on addressing 'dumsor' was lacking, contrasting it with that of his predecessor, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who managed to maintain stable electricity supply.Dr Amin Adam expressed concern that the recurrence of 'dumsor' during Mahama's term was causing fear and anxiety among Ghanaians due to its potential impact on their lives and businesses. His remarks were made during the 'True State of the Nation Address' by the NPP Minority Caucus in Parliament House, Accra.The Minority emphasized that the return of power outages was signific antly affecting small businesses dependent on stable electricity. Dr Amin Adam highlighted the impact on daily activities, citing the noticeable return of electric generating sets in various settings, including shops, clinics, and social events.In response to the ongoing issues, the Minority called on the government to publish a load-shedding timetable to mitigate the impact of erratic power supplies. They urged that this would help people and businesses plan effectively to offset economic losses currently being experienced.
