Duayaw-Nkwanta SESBEC JHS Triumphs in NCCE Constitutional Quiz

Duayaw-Nkwanta: The Duayaw-Nkwanta SESBEC Montessori Junior High School has emerged as the winner of the inaugural National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) quiz competition in the Tano North Municipality of the Ahafo Region. The event was organized to commemorate the 68th Independence Anniversary celebration and aimed to foster a deeper understanding of Ghana's history and the 1992 Constitution among school children.

According to Ghana News Agency, six schools participated in this educational contest held at Duayaw-Nkwanta under the theme 'NCCE Independence Day Constitutional Quiz Competition.' The competition focused on current affairs, Ghana's history, and the 1992 Constitution. Duayaw-Nkwanta Presbyterian 'B' JHS secured the second position, followed by Roman Catholic JHS in third place. The Municipal Assembly JHS, Clyde Academy JHS, and Prince of Peace JHS took the fourth, fifth, and sixth positions, respectively.

SESBEC JHS was awarded stationeries and a certificate for their victory, while the other participating schools received certificates of participation. Mr Joseph Oduro Buabeng, the Tano Municipal Director of NCCE, emphasized that the quiz was designed to 'immortalize the rich history of Ghana's Independence struggle' and to instill patriotism in young learners. He noted that the event was not just an academic exercise but a celebration of democratic values and an educational experience on the principles of the 1992 Constitution.

Mr Buabeng further explained that as students engaged with the 1992 Constitution and the history of Ghana's Independence, they were not only paying tribute to the past but also shaping the future by understanding their roles in upholding democracy. He highlighted that the quiz fostered national unity through friendly competition and helped nurture the spirit of independence in the nation's future leaders.
