Kadjebi: Dr. Sam Suraj Issaka, the District Chief Executive of Kadjebi Akan District in the Oti Region, is enthusiastic about the prospects of iron ore exploration in the district. The DCE expressed optimism during the ceremony marking the handover of core drilled iron ore for testing, emphasizing that the project is expected to generate employment opportunities for the youth and drive development in the region.
According to Ghana News Agency, the exploration project, spearheaded by Africa Exploration and Minerals Group Limited (AEMG) in partnership with the Ghana Integrated Iron and Steel Development Corporation (GIISDEC), has reached a key milestone with the handover of the initial core drilled iron ore sample. The ceremony was attended by stakeholders, including officials from GIISDEC, AEMG, the Ghana Geological Survey Authority (GGSA), traditional leaders, Republic Bank, and Assembly Members.
Mr. Philip Opong Amponsah, Operation Deputy Chief Executive Officer of GIISDEC, highlighted the project's potential benefits for all Ghanaians, particularly the Asato Gyamono community and the district. He emphasized the role of iron ore in Ghana's economic development and noted that the samples would be sent to Australia by Ntertek Minerals Limited for testing. Successful results could lead to the commencement of commercial iron ore extraction.
Osaberima Osei Bonsu V, the Paramount Chief of Asato Traditional Area, expressed confidence that the project would contribute to the area's development, particularly in healthcare and youth development. Mr. Abudulai Batiah Santi, Deputy CEO of Strategy and Investor Relations at GIISDEC, assured community members that the government would prioritize their welfare, emphasizing the involvement of local investors.
Dr. Benjamin Dzoboko, Managing Director of Republic Bank, underscored the significance of mineral exploration in fostering economic growth. As the project's sponsor, Republic Bank is optimistic about its potential to benefit both the bank and the community. Dr. Dzoboko conveyed trust in AEMG's proposal, expressing hope for the project's positive impact on Ghana and Africa.
Mr. Isaac Obeng Darko, CEO of Africa Exploration and Minerals Group Limited, expressed gratitude to the chiefs and residents of the Asato and Gyamono community for their steadfast support during the drilling phase. He acknowledged the youth's commitment, which ensured a smooth operation without any incidents, and expressed a desire to continue collaborating with them pending the test results.
The ceremony concluded with the recognition of over 15 young men for their dedication, as they were awarded citations for their contributions to the project's success.
