Agotime-Ziope: Credible elections are a fundamental indicator of democracy and good governance in the developed world, stated Mr. Christian Ahiawodzi, Agotime-Ziope District Director for the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE). He noted that, unfortunately, elections in many developing countries, particularly in Africa, have often resulted in significant hardship, stress, violence, and the destruction of life and property.According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Ahiawodzi expressed these views during a parliamentary dialogue organized by the Commission for parliamentary candidates in the Agotime-Ziope constituency. He emphasized that recognizing the critical roles citizens play in the democratic process, the NCCE had established the Parliamentary Candidates' Dialogue as a platform for interaction at the constituency level. The Dialogue serves as an avenue for candidates to present their vision and policies and engage with constituents on issues of national concern, Mr. Ahiawodzi explained. Participat ing in the dialogue were Mr. John Tefe of the National Democratic Party and Mr. Kentle Agbobli of the New Patriotic Party.Mr. Tefe pledged to establish a printing press in the area to reduce the cost of instructional materials and enhance the quality of education. Additionally, he promised to promote tourism by constructing a Kente hotel to attract more tourists to the area.On the other hand, Mr. Agbobli appealed to the electorate to vote for him so that he could establish technical and vocational schools in the area, aiming to foster development and create employment opportunities.
