Accra: Dr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, the Board Chairman of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), has called on the organization's staff to ready themselves for the transition to a 24-hour economy. He emphasized the need for COCOBOD to strategically position itself to capitalize on the policy to sustain its contribution to the Ghanaian economy.
According to Ghana News Agency, Dr. Ofosu-Ampofo highlighted these points during a visit to the warehouses and offices of the Quality Control Company and Cocoa Marketing Company. The purpose of the visit was to gain insights into their operations and activities. The delegation also made a stop at Cocoa Village, underscoring the significance of the 24-hour economy initiative launched by President John Dramani Mahama. Dr. Ofosu-Ampofo stressed that for COCOBOD to thrive under this policy, it must expand its operations and infrastructure.
The Board Chairman further noted the importance of maintaining the high quality of Ghana's cocoa, which has been a source of national pride. He praised the staff across various departments for their critical role in upholding quality standards and ensuring premium cocoa production. He assured them of the Board's commitment to enhancing operations through collaboration and synergy.
Dr. Ofosu-Ampofo also announced the approval for acquiring operational vehicles to address logistical challenges faced by departments. He emphasized the importance of reinvesting generated revenue into improving organizational logistics. Additionally, he mentioned plans to enhance security by installing advanced CCTV systems in collaboration with management to address safety concerns.
The Board Chairman, alongside the delegation, also toured several warehouses, demonstrating a commitment to addressing the challenges raised during their visit.
