CKT-UTAS to Receive GHS10 Million for Infrastructure Enhancement

Navrongo: The Clement Kubindiwo Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences (CKT-UTAS) in Navrongo is set to benefit from a GHS10 million infrastructure development facility.

According to Ghana News Agency, this funding will be sourced from the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) and is part of a larger GHS40 million allocation set aside for four universities, which also include the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) in Ho, University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) in Sunyani, and the Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (SDD-UBIDS) in Wa. The announcement was made by Mr. Haruna Iddrisu, the Minister for Education, during the Fifth Congregation of CKT-UTAS.

Mr. Iddrisu assured the university's staff and management that the funds would be released before the end of the next quarter of the year, emphasizing the government's commitment to fulfilling its promise to support infrastructure development. He highlighted the collaboration between the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and GETFund to ensure timely disbursement of the funds.

The Minister expressed pride in the progress of CKT-UTAS and reiterated the government's commitment to supporting the university's growth, emphasizing the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education for the future of Ghana. He noted that the government aims to increase the number of students in STEM fields to make the country more competitive.

Professor Albert Luguterah, Vice-Chancellor of CKT-UTAS, outlined the university's mandate to provide higher education and engage in research, aiming to transform the institution into a world-class learning environment. He expressed gratitude to the university's founding council and acknowledged the support from key government figures and the GTEC.

As the university looks to the future, Professor Luguterah emphasized the importance of fostering innovation among staff and students to positively impact society, expressing confidence in the current council's strategic direction and commitment to growth and excellence.
