Church of Pentecost Agorve District Hosts Free Health Screening Exercise

Akatsi South: The Women Ministry from the Agorve District of the Church of Pentecost in the Volta Region organised a free health screening exercise for church members. The event took place at the Church’s Central Auditorium, where participants also engaged in skills training activities, including bridal fun formation and fascinator making.

According to Ghana News Agency, Dr. Michael Dovlo, a medical House Officer at Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital and a church member, revealed that participants underwent various health tests essential for their well-being. These included blood pressure checks, fasting blood sugar tests, basic hearing assessments, and visual acuity tests. Dr. Dovlo noted that some participants, particularly farmers, experienced general body pains and hypertension. He attributed the prevalence of hypertension to ‘non-adherence to anti-hypertension’ measures and advocated for lifestyle changes such as regular exercise, routine health checks, and adherence to health-related guidelines.

Mrs. Angela Kpeli, the wife of the District Pastor and leader of the health team, emphasized the significance of the exercise for the well-being of church members. She noted that the exercise would be ongoing and available to all, not just church members. Mrs. Kpeli, a health worker within the municipality, expressed gratitude to the Women’s Ministry members for their support and to the Akatsi Municipal Hospital for providing free medications to participants.

When interviewed by the Ghana News Agency, some participants highlighted the importance of regular health checks for maintaining healthy living and expressed appreciation for the initiative shown by the Church’s leadership and the Women’s Wing. Under the leadership of Reverend Prosper Kpeli, the Agorve District of the Church continues to engage in key activities to spread the gospel throughout society.
