Eight persons, who allegedly removed a joint billboard of Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia and Mrs Hannah Asamoah, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Agona East, have been granted bail by the Agona Swedru Magistrate's Court.The court, presided over by Mr Victor Kusi, granted six of them bail in the sum of GHC10,000.The eight included Nana Amoako Ababio II, Regent of Mankrong-Junction.They are to produce three sureties each and the case was adjourned to Tuesday, August 6, 2024.However, two octogenarians among them were earlier granted a bail sum of GHC40,000 when they appeared before the Court on Tuesday, July 16, 2024.The court further ordered them to mount the billboard again at the same place to ensure peace and tranquillity prevailed.Mrs Asamoah, after the court session, admonished party supporters to desist from removing or defacing opponents' posters and billboards to avoid prosecution.She said the practice had become a ritual in Agona East in every election year and urged supporters to put a stop to it to avert political conflicts.'The arrest and prosecution of these people must serve as a warning to all political party supporters,' she said.She implored leaders to adopt issue-based campaign to convince the electorates and stop inciting conflict among supporters.Source: Ghana News Agency
