Central Tongu MP Joins Data Protection Commission as Board Member

Accra: Mr. Alexander Roosevelt Hotordze, the Member of Parliament for Central Tongu, has been officially inaugurated as a Board Member of the Data Protection Commission. His appointment marks a strategic addition to the Commission's leadership as it intensifies efforts to safeguard data privacy, enhance digital rights, and promote responsible data governance across the country.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Hotordze expressed gratitude following his inauguration, describing the role as a significant opportunity to contribute to national development through digital security. He stated, "I am deeply honoured to have been inaugurated as a Board Member of the Data Protection Commission Ghana. This responsibility marks a significant step in our collective efforts to strengthen data governance, privacy, and digital rights in Ghana."

He pledged to contribute meaningfully to the Commission's mandate and work collaboratively to advance a safer and more secure digital future for all Ghanaians. Mr. Hotordze extended appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama and all stakeholders for the trust and confidence reposed in him.

The Data Protection Commission, established under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), is tasked with regulating the processing of personal data, ensuring compliance with data protection principles, and upholding the privacy rights of individuals in Ghana's digital space.
