Mpraeso: Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG) has inaugurated a newly refurbished sickbay at Mpraeso Senior High School in the Eastern Region. The upgraded facility is designed to meet students' immediate medical needs and ensure their safety and well-being.According to Ghana News Agency, during the ceremony, Mr. Daniel Wilson Addo, CBG's Managing Director, explained that the initiative is part of the bank's corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts. He explained that prior to the renovation, the lack of a functional sickbay had required students to travel long distances for medical care. Mr. Addo emphasized that the newly renovated facility would reduce the need for students to travel long distances for medical care, especially during emergencies, by offering prompt medical attention on-site.He explained that CBG's CSR initiatives are centered around health, education, and community development-core areas that support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Mr. Addo further stated that the investment in the sickbay was aimed at ensuring students have access to vital healthcare services directly within the school environment. He also praised the school's staff and management for their commitment to nurturing young minds, expressing hope that the new facility would help address the challenges the school faced in managing students' health.Mr. Williams Frempong Nyarko, the Municipal Education Director for the Ghana Education Service (GES), expressed gratitude to the bank for the renovated sickbay. He said that students previously had to seek medical care off-campus, which created delays in addressing urgent health concerns. He added that the new sickbay would not only benefit the students but also support BECE candidates who often experience health emergencies during exams.
