Rabat: The Confederation of Africa Volleyball (CAVB) is anticipating unprecedented participation at the 2025 Africa Senior Beach Volleyball Championship in Morocco, with confirmations from over 25 African nations.
According to Ghana News Agency, CAVB President Bushra Hajij announced during a press conference in Rabat that 22 African countries have already confirmed their participation, marking a notable increase from the previous championship. The event will feature 88 women's doubles teams from 22 countries and 114 men's doubles teams from 27 countries competing for honors.
The championship, scheduled to take place in the city of Mortel 'Tetwan' from June 23 to 30, will serve as a qualifying event for the World Championship in Australia this November. Participating countries in the men's category include Benin, Botswana, Burundi, Cape Verde, Algeria, Chad, Cote d'Ivoire, Egypt, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea Bissau, Kenya, Malawi, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Rwanda, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Swaziland, Togo, Uganda, and Zambia. The female category will see participation from Benin, Burundi, Cape Verde, Cote d'Ivoire, Egypt, Gambia, Algeria, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Namibia, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Togo, Uganda, and Zambia.
Hajij also noted that the top four teams in both men's and women's categories will secure spots for the World Championships in Australia, scheduled for November 14 to 23. Additionally, an African Championship for Under-21 will be held concurrently with the senior event, serving as a qualifier for the World Championship in Mexico from October 15 to 19.
In her address, Hajij extended a warm welcome to all participants, dedicating the event to His Majesty King Mohammed VI and Allah. She emphasized the role of sports in fostering economic, human, and social development, highlighting its service to the youth of the African continent.
