Tamale: Camfed Ghana Association (CAMA) has conducted a community sensitisation event focused on women's empowerment and girls' education at Yong Dakpemyili, a suburb of Tamale. This initiative was part of this year's International Women's Day celebration.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Inusah Iddrisu, the Principal Investigator at the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice, addressed attendees during the event. He emphasized the importance of women taking on vital roles to aid community development. Mr. Iddrisu urged community members to avoid gender stereotyping, particularly against women and girls, and called on traditional and religious leaders to support girl-child education to enhance their welfare.
Mr. Sumaila Alhassan, Chairperson of the Parents Support Group, encouraged parents to refrain from overburdening their daughters with household chores after school, advocating for a balance that supports their educational pursuits.
Miss Ernestina Brenya, Chairperson of the CAMFED Association in Tamale, underscored CAMA's dedication to promoting women's development and girls' education. She praised women for their contributions to community progress and motivated them to continue being a supportive force in advancing girls' education.
