Techiman: Mr Francis Owusu Antwi, Bono East Regional Minister, has announced that plans are underway to establish a Technical University in the Bono East Region. The initiative aims to provide the innovative human resources necessary for advancing the socio-economic development of the region.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Regional Minister discussed this development during an interview in Techiman, the regional capital, at the first medium-term development plan meeting of the Bono Regional Coordinating Council. Mr Antwi emphasized the importance of technical and innovative skills in transforming the region’s economic prospects and creating job opportunities to drive socio-economic growth.
Mr Antwi highlighted the government’s commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure to improve access. He mentioned that the facilities at the Kintampo University for Allied Sciences and Wellbeing would also see improvements. He noted that the advancing world and changing labour market necessitate innovative skills to support development.
The Regional Minister called on the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies in the region to boost their Internal Generated Funds for better physical infrastructure development. He also appealed for stakeholder support to improve the region’s security situation, aiming to create a more conducive environment for business growth.
