Accra: The management of SONABEL, the power-producing company in Burkina Faso, has rescheduled the controlled water spillage from the Bagre Dam to Monday, August 25, 2025, moving it up from the initially planned date of August 27.
According to Ghana News Agency, the adjustment in the spillage schedule was necessitated by a sudden rise in the dam's water level, which has reached a filling capacity of 90.24 percent. As of August 23, 2025, the water level stood at 234.27 meters, prompting the need for earlier action.
A statement from the Water Resources Commission, which was shared with the Ghana News Agency, has advised communities along the White Volta and surrounding areas to take necessary precautions. The statement emphasized the importance of adhering to guidelines issued by local assemblies and relevant agencies to ensure safety.
