Sunyani: The 154 Armoured Regiment emerged winners of the 2025 Central Command March and Shoot competition of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF). Officers of the regiment exhibited their military prowess, engaging in a 20-kilometre navigation, obstacle crossing, and shooting during the competition held at the Yawhiman shooting range of the Third Garrison Battalion Infantry (3BN) in the Sunyani Municipality.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Headquarters Central Command Camp, 3BN Infantry Battalion, and the Fourth Infantry Battalion (4BN) placed second, third, and fourth respectively. Lance Corporal Eric Owusu of the 154 Armoured Regiment was adjudged the best male officer in the Falling Plate category, with Sigmn Cynthia Ufulamba of the Headquarters Central Command, adjudged the best in the female category. Pte Felicia Pawia of the 3BN was also recognized as the best in the female obstacle crossing.
In the amusement shot, Mr. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, the Bono Regional Minister, was adjudged best, with Mr. Dominic Adomah Ameyaw, the Dormaa Central Municipal Chief Executive, and Mr. King Osei Owusu, the Dormaa East District Chief Executive, placing second and third respectively.
Addressing the closing session of the competition, Mr. Akwaboa commended all the participating units for their comportment, dedication, and commitment, highlighting their commendable performances. He emphasized the significance of the energy and effort invested into the preparation of the competition, acknowledging that whether or not participants took home the top prize, their hard work and professionalism were victories in themselves for the various units and the GAF as a whole.
Mr. Akwaboa praised the GAF for organizing a more professional and well-coordinated competition and urged the military to sustain the momentum, continue with their training, and remain committed to military excellence. Prizes ranging from trophies, certificates, non-alcoholic beverages, and undisclosed sums of money were presented to the deserving units and officers.
