Azulenloanu Closes Kundum Festival with Call for Developmental Projects

Accra: The Chief, elders, and people of Azulenloanu, a fishing and farming community in the Ellembelle District, have concluded their annual Kundum festival by urging the government to implement developmental projects in the town.

According to Ghana News Agency, Nana Addo Nreda VI, Chief of Azulenloanu, acknowledged that while the government had previously introduced developments such as asphaltic overlay, toilet facilities, a market square, and electrification projects, the town still lacked adequate social amenities compared to other areas.

Nana Addo Nreda VI shared these insights during an interview on the sidelines of the festival's climax in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region. The three-day festival celebrated the cultural heritage, traditions, and history of the Nzema people and aimed to promote peace and unity among the community.

The traditional leader urged his people to set aside differences and unite in the pursuit of the town's development. He emphasized the need for the government to focus on renovating the Azulenloanu Basic School, which is in a state of deterioration. The poor condition of the school has led many parents to transfer their children to institutions in nearby towns.

Nana Addo Nreda VI also highlighted the town's acute water shortage as a pressing issue. He called on the District Assembly and the government to address the ongoing water supply challenges that impact residents' lives.

In addition, he appealed to the government to create job opportunities for the town's youth, many of whom are unemployed, to alleviate their economic challenges.
