A’VITA Ghana Provides Financial Aid for 26 Postpartum Mothers at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital

Accra: A'VITA Ghana has donated GHC 114,000 to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) to settle the medical bills of 26 postpartum mothers and their newborns. The initiative aims to relieve these mothers, who have been detained due to unpaid hospital bills, and allow them to return home with their babies.

According to Ghana News Agency, A'VITA Ghana is a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) dedicated to supporting financially disadvantaged women who are unable to afford their hospital expenses. This generous contribution is intended to cover the debts incurred by these mothers during their stay at the hospital.

Madam Claris Kwartey-Papafio, Chief Executive Officer of A'VITA Ghana, expressed that the donation is a gesture of love and care towards mothers facing financial difficulties post-discharge. She affirmed the organisation's commitment to assisting impoverished patients with their medical bills at KBTH.

"A'VITA Ghana resonates with life and love, and we are happy to assist all patients with cash of over 114,000 to show love to them," she stated. She also mentioned that the decision to support Korle-Bu was influenced by the hospital's openness to receiving aid from the organisation.

Madam Elizabeth Kyei, Deputy Chief Midwifery Officer at KBTH, received the donation on behalf of the hospital and praised A'VITA Ghana for their substantial support. The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude, noting that many of them remained in the hospital despite being discharged due to their inability to pay their bills.

A'VITA Ghana was established in February 2025 and is led by Professor Arthur Sackeyfio, a Retired Founding Dean of the University of Ghana School of Pharmacy at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
