Assin Bereku: The National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) has taken a proactive step in promoting peaceful elections by organising a peace walk through the principal streets of Assin Bereku in the Assin North District of the Central Region. This initiative is aimed at fostering a peaceful electoral environment, encouraging tolerance, and ensuring stability in the upcoming elections.According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Eric Mawunyo Ashinyoh, the District Director of NCCE, stated that the peace walk sought to make a collective commitment towards peace and discourage misinformation before, during, and after the polls. The event attracted participants from various sectors including schools, churches, mosques, rider unions, and the general public. Participants carried placards with messages such as 'Peaceful Elections, Our Collective Responsibility', 'Let's Choose Peace Not Violence', and 'One Ghana, One People, Peaceful Co-existence'.In a related development, the NCCE also organised a quiz competition fo r three senior high schools in the district, aimed at creating awareness about the role of youth in decision-making towards nation-building. Assin State College emerged victorious with 54 points, followed by Assin North Senior High Technical School with 51 points, and Gyasse Senior High School with 33 points.Mr. Ashinyoh urged the students to avoid violence and focus on the interests of Ghana, emphasizing that politics is about good governance, rule of law, justice, probity, and accountability. He called for free, fair, and transparent elections and encouraged students to support the NCCE's theme: 'Together we can build Ghana, so get involved', to ensure a successful election in 2024.To conclude the day's activities, the NCCE organised a football match involving four teams: the District Assembly, Moslem community, Basofi Ningo circuit, and Bereku circuit teams. The Bereku circuit team emerged victorious with six points, capping off a day dedicated to promoting peace and unity.
